The Florida Association of School Resource Officers “Agency of the Year” Award is presented annually to an agency that has made a significant contribution to the development of the School Resource Officer profession. This award recognizes an agency that has made an impact in training, professional development, and organizational efficiency to make schools in their community a safer place to learn.

The Florida Association of School Resource Officers SRO of the Year award is presented annually to a School Resource Officer who has made a significant contribution to their school and community. This award is to recognize an individual who has gone above and beyond their normal duties as an SRO and has shown dedication and tireless work ethic to enhance the SRO philosophy of counselor, teacher, and law enforcement officer.

The Florida Association of School Resource Officers Practitioner program was established for agencies and school districts to recognize officers who have excelled in the school resource officer philosophy. This program will distinguish those officers who are committed to establishing themselves as professionals at their agency, in their community and school.
To obtain the designation of SRO/SRD practitioner, please refer to the guidelines as set forth on the attached application.

The Florida Association of School Resource Officers is proud of the achievements of the youth in our state. As a result, FASRO began endowing educational scholarships for middle and high school students beginning in 1988. During this time, FASRO has awarded over a half-million dollars to students to assist them in obtaining their goal of a college education. The FASRO Board of Directors will continue to seek more funding to help our students achieve the educational knowledge they desire.
To nominate a student for a FASRO scholarship, please complete the attached application. If you would like to apply for the High School Scholarship, please complete the following application and synopsis page no later than April 1st. This award is presented to those individuals who demonstrate extraordinary accomplishments while serving their schools communities. Those selected to receive this award have demonstrated, through their actions, the qualities and characteristics of School Safety Advocate, Leader, Visionary, Mentor, and Teacher. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a current or retired member of FASRO, who exemplifies the true spirit of, “Service before Self” through his/her ongoing actions. This award exemplifies service above and beyond what is expected in areas of skill, significant contribution to the community, agency and school safety as a whole.

The Meritorious Service Award is given to a SRO for a highly unusual accomplishment, under adverse conditions, with some degree of hazard to life and/ or limb, or where death or injury to a third party is prevented. Examples of this would include apprehending a person on campus who has committed a serious crime or any noteworthy act of selfless service.

The Valor Award is given to the SRO who displays heroism and distinction in extremely hazardous circumstances. In order to be considered for this honor, an SRO must exhibit unusual bravery in the performance of duty while facing the threat of death or serious injury. It is this committee’s intent of this definition to base the award upon extraordinary actions that would expose the SRO to self- peril and beyond the call of duty.

We, the members of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers, in a uniform effort, will provide support and training to those who work daily with our greatest asset: children.
